A Whitingham man faces two counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of a mother and son with whom he lived.
Vermont State Police said Saturday afternoon that Christopher Ellis, 54, had killed Lucy Garvin, 79, and her son, Michael Garvin, 52, earlier this week. Ellis was arrested after the Brattleboro Police Department located Michael Garvin’s stolen truck Friday night and conducted a traffic stop. Ellis is being held without bail and is expected to be arraigned Tuesday.
According to state police, a relative found the Garvins dead in their Route 8A home Friday night. Police said they believe Ellis, who had been living with the Garvins since April, shot them earlier this week.
In addition to the murder charges, Ellis faces one count of operating a vehicle without the owner’s consent.
