A Wyoming man wanted in that state on a charge of second-degree murder was taken into custody Thursday afternoon in Enosburgh, according to Vermont State Police.
Stacy R. Medicinetop, 36, of Casper, Wyoming, was arrested around 3 p.m. at his place of employment in Enosburgh, state police said in a press release Friday morning. Medicinetop was working at the Franklin Foods plant at the time, state police said.
State police got an anonymous tip on July 12 that Medicinetop was wanted in connection with a homicide that took place in Wyoming several months ago, the release stated.
When the tip was received, there were no active warrants for Medicinetop’s arrest, but Casper police subsequently obtained two warrants for Medicinetop — for second-degree murder and vehicle theft — that led to Vermont State Police making the arrest, according to the release.
The homicide investigation began when Casper police went to a residence May 2 and found Daniel R. Swope, 48, dead, according to state police. The Natrona, Wyoming, County Coroner confirmed the death was a homicide.
Medicinetop reportedly fled Wyoming following the murder and arrived in Vermont in June, according to the release. He was scheduled to appear Friday afternoon in Franklin County Superior criminal court
