Forbes Media Editor-in-Chief Steve Forbes will headline a fundraiser for Republican gubernatorial candidate Bruce Lisman this month at the Burlington Country Club.

“Steve Forbes is an accomplished and innovative business leader and a widely respected economic prognosticator,” said Lisman’s campaign manager, Shawn Shouldice, in a statement. “We are extremely pleased to have Mr. Forbes’ support and look forward to a great turnout for this event.”

The fundraising luncheon will begin at noon on June 17. Shouldice did not immediately respond to questions regarding ticket prices.

Lisman, a retired Wall Street executive, has largely self-funded his primary campaign so far.

The latest series of campaign finance reports, filed in March, shows Lisman led the pack with $600,000 in contributions, though the Shelburne resident has put $450,000 of his own money into his campaign.

Forbes — who mounted unsuccessful bids for president in 1996 and 2000 — is no stranger to Vermont politics. He spoke at the 2013 Vermont Republican Spring Dinner in Burlington and attended the 2012 Calvin Coolidge Memorial Foundation fundraiser in Plymouth.
