VTDigger has hired Josh Larkin as director of design and technology to take on full-time duties beginning Jan. 31.
Larkin’s responsibilities with VTD will range from web development and design to photography and occasional reporting. He has worked closely with Anne Galloway on VTDigger since its inception in 2009 and has been responsible for the look and functionality of the site.
Larkin has served as Vermont Law School’s web communications and new media manager since 2008. Prior to that he worked as the web editor for Norwich University and as a reporter for the Times Argus, where he first met Galloway. He has worked with technology, computers and websites professionally for five years and as a hobby since 1997. His focus has been on web architecture and design and more recently, WordPress custom development. He is also well versed in social and new media tools such as Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.
The addition of Larkin to the VTDigger team as a full-time employee reflects the outstanding support the independent news site has received from its readers, sponsors and supporters. In the upcoming months Larkin will be actively reworking many areas of the site to better serve readers and improve on VTDigger’s usability.
Larkin lives in Calais with his wife, Daphne, daughter Luna, a couple of dogs and two kittens. He can be reached at jlarkin@vtdigger.org.
